About the Image(s)
In Kentucky we are approaching the end of the growing season, I was helping my wife "clean" up the flower beds and this Zinnia caught my eye. I wanted to try the focus stacking technique, but the clouds were not being very cooperative. The natural light was changing continuously, preventing the lengthy exposure process needed for focus stacking. I wanted to get this exposure on line today. We should have a few more good days before Fall really sets in, maybe I can submit a "stacked" image next month.
Exposure was made with my Nikon D610 w/105mm Micro Nikon. Settings were ISO 200 at 1/30 sec and f/32. Minor adjustments for the final image were made Lightroom.

When you get close you find all kinds of patterns. I like how the little red center things come through the unopened petals. They almost look like little maple leaves. This would have been great for focus stacking.

My Zinnias are almost done but still attracting bees, hummers, and butterflies. The one in your image suggests a mature bloom to me. I find the details and various textures interesting and beautiful. Thanks for sharing this one!   Posted: 10/25/2025 14:36:25
