About the Image(s)
I attended the PSA Festival in Portland, Oregon this year ??“ returning home yesterday after an overnight flight. For me, one of the highlights was driving with my wife to the West Coast, in the vicinity of Cannon Beach. It’s an amazingly beautiful area. I took this image from a location not far from the parking lot.
Post-processing included minor cropping, adding a bit of contrast, and introducing an evening glow of light from the top right corner of the image. All processing was done with Camera Raw.
Data: Hasselblad X2D II with 75mm lens (equivalent to 59mm on a full-frame camera); 1/2000 sec; f/13.0; ISO 1600

Visiting from Group 2. Stunning image! Now I wish I would have attended the conference.   Posted: 10/01/2025 16:57:13
Excellent photo. I wish I had gone. Maybe next year. The only change that I recommend is to remove or darken the dead tree up on the hill and darken the rock on the right close to water.   Posted: 10/02/2025 03:20:46
Thank you, Richard. I like seeing other possibilities for my photographs. (That's how I learn!) This time, however, even though I personally like your version, some people might feel it's a bit over-processed.   Posted: 10/19/2025 20:43:06
The image really speaks to the rhythms of nature in the pattern of the incoming waves and the layering of the background hills. Its very understated but really well seen. I don't think I would go with Richard's version...its too much for my eyes!   Posted: 10/13/2025 04:00:29
Ah, Mark. Nature is amazing! Here on the East Coast, we also have beautiful scenes; however, the West Coast is both different and magnificent! Like you, I was attracted to the layers and the waves. An extraordinary area!

Great photo! The space is well conveyed! This is especially emphasized by the large number of waves and the different tone of the mountains in the distance due to the haze from the air.   Posted: 10/13/2025 13:56:03

Hi Pete, We are so happy we got to spend time with you and Cyndy. I do like the image color, and I imagine it looks even better in HDR. Great Dof, clarity and detail. We don't have much haze on the coast, Natalia, mostly forest fire smoke.   Posted: 10/16/2025 14:08:19
Bob, Cindy and I always enjoy getting together with you and Dorinda. I wish we lived closer together.
Thank you for your comments on my photo. The Cannon Beach area is spectacular!

Hi Oliver. I also enjoyed the layers. The waves act as leading lines that take us through the image to the mountains. The light is lovely and gives the image a soft and relaxing feel. I'd consider perhaps cropping a little off the bottom and perhaps adding a very subtle vignette to bring the focus more into the water and the hills in the background. I think your choice of colour palette works very well here.   Posted: 10/21/2025 04:27:13
