Mt. Evans Tree by Erik Rosengren, FPSA, MPSA

November 2026 - Mt. Evans Tree

About the Image(s)

How I did it--After the close of the PSA Festival Betty Sue and I flew to Denver to spend time with daughter Stephanie. We arrived 3 days before the peak of leaf change. The photo gods were kind to us, we chaptered Bull and cow Elk and Moose, Whitetail and Mule Deer bucks, female Bighorn Sheep, herd of Yaks and American Pika. Wanting to see Billy Goats, we drove up Mount Blue Sky, formally Mt. Evans on a foggy morning. I saw an old tree that was lying on the ground with large vertical limbs. I was so consumed by this scape, 15 minutes were spent clicking the shudder from several different positions. Looking forward to your comments

Erik, from your description you had a wonderful and productive visit to Denver. The mood of this image is wonderful, the colors and sharpness of the dead tree, nicely framed by the young arising from the ground and the foggy background adds to the image. Great capture.   Posted: 11/01/2026 17:42:26
