About the Image(s)

While at the PSA Photo Festival in Portland Oregon and being privileged to share again the photo outings with our fellow group members Erik and Bill, the three Amigos, we traveled through the coast of Oregon and other places.

This month image of Mt Hood, which is the tallest mountain in Oregon, and one of the volcanos, was created from Trillium Lake at the Mt Hood National Forest which gives us a great vantage point for this photography. The lake is about 60 miles outside Portland. With the Nikon Z8 camera with the Z zoom lens 24-70 mm f/2.8 and with a polarizer filter I obtained three sets of three exposures each that were processed as HDR in LightRoom and then focus stacked in Photoshop with the resulting image, before sunset. Unfortunately, there were no clouds in the ski. (Main Image). The original shows the three amigos (Also see November 2021

What a lovely place. You utilized your skills as a photographer being at the right place and choosing a good time and utilizing your processing skills. Every thing is sharp sharp sharp. Amazing one can see the bottom of the lake which adds some texture to the lower part. Lovely reflection and the colors are complimentary. The boulders are a nice touch giving an anchor to the eye.   Posted: 10/06/2025 03:40:17

Having the good fortune of having a smooth lake along with being able to see the smooth stones in the shollow end of the lake added interest. The major and minor subjects are tack sharp, offering perfect color for this time of the year.Good PP as well my friend.   Posted: 10/10/2025 02:04:03

Hi Isaac
What a stunning landscape ,its say peace, tranquility and calm.
The reflection and well placed rocks in the foreground add wonderful balance to the image, the polariser adding depth in the foreground water.Wonderful colours which so compliment each other, every time you look at it,it will transport you back to not only the place but the wonderful people you shared that experience with.   Posted: 10/10/2025 12:45:12

Wish I could have been there! What super conditions you had for this stunning view. The reflections are perfect and the colours are vivid. Everything is sharp.   Posted: 10/11/2025 16:16:48

Very nicely done Isaac, and I also love the three Amigos picture as well. This is a classic shot of Mt. Hood and you have captured it well. The stillness of the water (which I couldn't get when I had the same opportunity) has nicely reflected the sky. Good DoF and exposure.   Posted: 10/18/2025 12:42:08

What memories are made of. It was a delightful experience along with sharing it with a couple of great friends. It wasn't hard not to get good pictures that evening. The best part was after we thought that the sun had set it peeked below the clouds for a glorious few moments.   Posted: 10/20/2025 14:59:49
