Kieu-Hanh Vu
About the Image(s)
This image was captured last month in Hunan, China. We crossed behind the waterfalls in Furong Town to photograph the scenic area and saw this fisherman trying to throw his net after rowing his boat back and forth in the river. My quick reaction was to catch the shot when the net just reached the surface of the water.
The image was shot via my iphone. Minimum color enhancement and sharpening have been done using the Snapseed app. All comments are highly appreciated.

Really nice short Kieu-Hanh. The splash of the fisherman's net gives it the right amount of action and a good focal point. Your composition is really good with the waterfalls leading the eye to the fisherman. I am not familiar with Snapseed but wonder if it has the ability to remove the people on the ledge? Nicely done.   Posted: 10/11/2025 15:17:49
Thanks for your comments, Andres! Removing all the people behind the waterfalls is quite a challenging task. To me, I think that their presence could indicate that there is a passsage behind the waterfalls.   Posted: 10/22/2025 04:19:34
Kieu-Hanh, the composition of the scene works well to include the motion of the fisherman as well as the waterfalls. The timing of your shot captures the spread-out net which explains the fishing technique used. The color of the water is especially striking.   Posted: 10/16/2025 02:46:48

Kieu-Hanh, beautiful image of the fisherman, net, waterfalls. It tells a lovely story. The tree leaves on the left lead the eye to the fisherman and then into the scene. The waterfalls look so full. I bet the sound of them was wonderful! I don't find the people on the ledge to be a distraction except for the one with pink that is in between the two falls. Very beautiful image and great travel photo!   Posted: 10/19/2025 22:45:44

What a beautiful spot. The waterfalls make a wonderful foil to the fisherman, who is dressed in traditional attire. This shows that you can do great shots using the iPhone or equivalent. If it were me who had been so lucky to have been there, I would have taken a bunch of shots during his net toss. I think I would prefer to see the net in the air rather than on the water, but in any case it is a great shot. You were so fortunate to be there at that time   Posted: 10/20/2025 19:13:57
