About the Image(s)

This is my photo for August. Parameters are: t=1/200, f/5.0 and ISO 5000.

It is a slice of lemon boiled for a few minutes in dense sugar syrup. It was part of a receipe, I did not boil it for the purpose of the photo. However I liked how it looked, so maybe I will do this with other fruits 😊

This is a fantastic image! I really like how the entire center portion of the lemon looks like melted glass. The colors are rich and warm. If I were to change anything, I might clone out some of the brighter highlights but that's nitpicking. Great image!   Posted: 08/19/2017 11:48:06

Very imaginative image. Nicely seen and captured. The composition and colors are great, and the textures are wonderful. To my eye though the shiny reflections, reflecting slightly blue pose a real distraction to the image as a whole. I would have tried to mask out, desaturate or clone over these bluish shiny regions to let the remainder of the image pop. I quickly tried this to demonstrate what it might look like without these regions. Just my own bias seeping in her, but see what you think. Regardless, though very cool and imaginative image.   Posted: 08/25/2017 11:38:40

Wonder photo Janos. It has beautiful symmetry and color. I am not as bothered by the reflected light as I think it add some level of depth and it isn't so extreme as to be distracting to me. My concern with toning down the highlights is that it flattens the overall colors of the image.

My one suggestion for improvement is to clone out the spots in the black background areas (upper right and left of the frame).

This would be another fun project to try; melting sugar might accomplish the same look.   Posted: 08/25/2017 17:08:27
