About the Image(s)

Camera: Nikon Z 7, Lens: Nikkor Z 24-200mm
Settings: Aperture: F/20, Shutter 1/500 sec, ISO: 800
Location: Monterey, CA
Info: While visiting Monterey, I was fascinated with the high tides on the ocean.
I wanted to capture the waves crashing against the building and I found an
interesting structure which looked pretty strong against the surf.
No tripod.
Editing: I used Lightroom to lighten the sky and the building structure. I
used ccntrast to bring out the detail on the structure. I lightened the water
and enhanced the green and white colors slightly.

This is a wonderful seascape with dramatic waves crashing against the building. To me, the most interesting part of the image are the crashing waves. The original image seems to capture the waves better. By lightening the waves, you seem to lose all the interesting detail. I played around with your original image to lighten the shadows in the dark center and add contrast to the water.   Posted: 03/02/2024 07:00:23

wonderful capture, and powerful image. Especially as the powerful wave hit the building, good impact.

As for the post edit, thought I'd not light up that much of the wave/water.

Great capture. I love the spray of water at the top of the wave. I agree that the darker version of this shows the detail nbetter. I like your composition and vertical crop. Very nice focus and details. Well done!   Posted: 03/05/2024 15:18:47

I like the drama in this image with the violence of the wave and the comparative calm of the water beneath the structure. I think David's darker version is a better interpretation of the scene by bringing out more detail in the wave and generally adding to the drama. A very enjoyable shot that tells a good story.   Posted: 03/11/2024 19:04:13

Good seascape of an unusual subject. The water is especially well done. I can offer no suggestions for improvement.   Posted: 03/14/2024 20:55:29

It is very beautiful image of the sea waves and the strong impact on the buildings. I agree with David's version which bring a bit more details of the sea waves.   Posted: 03/28/2024 03:35:23
