About the Image(s)

Orchid show at the MO Botanical Garden. I couldn't use a tripod so I have a hard time getting the whole flower in focus but was happy with this one. I significantly darkened the background and removed the distractions, as well as flipping the image. I brought out the details and used curves to lighten some areas.I liked the water droplets on the flower. Settings: f/4, 1/125 and ISO 200.

Beautiful orchid shot! Orchids are difficult to shoot because there is usually so much background clutter. You did a nice job of eliminating the distracting clutter and leaving enough leaves for context. The water drops add sparkle, and your decision to flip the orchid does improve the composition. Nice work!   Posted: 03/02/2024 06:33:34

really good post work, remove so much of unnecessary background elements, and darken, but leave some for line and movement.   Posted: 03/09/2024 10:21:06

I agree with David and Charlie. The orchid really stands out after your post processing which has focussed our attention on the flower and also left it in context.   Posted: 03/11/2024 19:11:47

It is a very beautiful flower image. I like the post-processing which crop out unnecessary background. And the darken background make the flower subject more distinct.
