March 2024 - Glorious Skies

About the Image(s)

One of my favorite subjects in B&W is capturing dramatic skies. The brightness and shadows, the drama, the interplay of light . . . all affect my instincts and direct me to try and capture what I saw and felt when I pressed the shutter button.
The dramatic skies were captured in a 3-shot HDR (+/- 2 stops) to ensure no overblown highlights and no blocked-up shadows. The image was processed in Luminar as an experiment to see how it compares to my normal Lightroom processing.

Captured with a Canon 7D body with Tamron 16-300mm zoom lens set at 37mm, f/10, and ISO 400 on a tripod.
